Today I want to talk a little about one method for managing risk.
The method is called risk separation.
It is a very easy method and can be used at any level.
At the corporate level separating risk is usually done with insurance.
Today I want to give a few ideas on how risk can be separated
at the personal level. Personal security is the responsibility of each
individual. So don’t expect the police to always be there to protect you.
Personal protection is not their job.
The role of the police is to respond to crimes and catch the bad guys.
So here are 3 ideas to to help you separate risk.
1. Separate your car and house or office keys on different key chains.
That way if you loose your keys or they get stolen you have not
lost them all.
2. Separate your credit cards, bank cafrds, cash and other forms of
identification. That means don’t carry every thing in the same
bag or wallet.
3. When you travel use travelers checks and separate them in different
bags and carry them in different areas on your person. Again same
reason as before if you loose one bag you don’t lose everything important
